For this smaller piece, I made a thick layer of dark blue. Then carved the labyrinth in. Here is what it looked like carved out:

I filled the carved slots with metallic waxes. In the process I learned that diluting metallic colors with medium dramatically reduces their sparkle. Ah, well… I still find the result delightful.
